The Lowry Avenue Bridge is an important transportation corridor and neighborhood connection in Minneapolis. Hennepin County started the design process for bridge replacement in 2007. The bridge has been closed since 2008.

The Phase 1 plans of the replacement project are complete. Hennepin County is awaiting final approval from Mn/DOT and the FHWA--necessary for advertising the project. Municipal consent was provided by the Minneapolis City Council on August 14th. Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has also approved the project. All necessary permits have been obtained.

The anticipated construction schedule includes advertising for bids in mid September, opening bids on October 20, and begin construction late
November. The anticipated reopening date is November 2011.
